Jane’s Addiction
In the late ’80s, Jane’s Addiction stunned audiences with a distinctive sound that proved to be highly influential in the realms of alternative rock and grunge during the ’90s. Led by the flamboyant provocateur Perry Farrell, this group of pioneers from Los Angeles blended elements of metal, punk, folk, psychedelics, funk, and jazz, concocting a devilishly eclectic rock brew. On the verge of a major breakthrough, Farrell conceived the still-traveling Lollapalooza festival as Jane’s Addiction’s farewell tour. Fortunately, they’ve been active for years now, even reuniting in their original lineup with guitarist Dave Navarro, bassist Eric Avery, and drummer Stephen Perkins. Jane’s Addiction represents rock history that resonates powerfully in the present. It wouldn’t surprise us if a certain Pinkpop headliner from Italy might have picked up a thing or two from Perry and his crew.
