His breakthrough performance with The Police in Geleen (1979) is a staple in lists of iconic Pinkpop moments. An endless series of global successes followed, but despite many enthusiastic attempts, it was not possible to lure the multi-instrumentalist with the distinctive voice back for a return. Until recently, the hit album ‘The Nite Watch (Live at the Rijksmuseum)’ was released – including classics ‘Fragile’ and ‘Roxanne’ – and the red light finally turned green. And so, almost 50 years after that memorable original show, the time has finally come: Sting is playing at Pinkpop again! Old love never rusts.
