Dead Poet Society
They may have studied together at Berklee College of Music in Boston, but for Dead Poet Society, Los Angeles is home. After six years of releasing singles and EPs, the foursome’s debut album was finally released in March 2021. Catchily titled -!-, (or The Exclamation Album, as it came to be called) it underlines the band’s versatility. Virtuoso playing in propelling pop rock songs, but also experimental touches, bluesy undertones and on top of it all those powerful and clear vocals of Jack Underkofler: this is not your run-of-the-mill rock band. Jack is a great Bob Dylan connoisseur, who also mentions Coldplay, Jack Johnson, John Mayer and singer Myles Kennedy of Alter Bridge as influences. His fellow band members are at least as versatile, so this bodes well for the band’s future output. In the summer of 2021 – in between lockdowns – the foursome were seen in England, where they proved themselves at major festivals such as Reading and Leeds. After another long series of shows in the US, it is finally the turn of mainland Europe. And Pinkpop!
