In 1998, her presence was still controversial – an egg-thrower managed to hit 22-year-old Anouk right on the torso. She then created a legendary moment by continuing her first ever performance at Pinkpop in a bright red bra. Girl power, as it was called at the time. Fast forward to 2019 and Anouk (whoever threw that egg would never have believed it) is the undisputed queen of Dutch rock culture, as well as the most booked artist in fifty years of Pinkpop. A record holder, just beating Krezip (six appearances), Muse and Faithless (five each). She hardly needs an introduction. Hotly debated coach on The Voice. In 2013, she single-handedly revived the Dutch reputation at the Eurovision Song Contest with Birds. Proud mother of six children. Courageous, tough, but wears her heart on her sleeve.
